I feel so honored that I get to work with families at such an exciting and often times trying time in their lives. I am a lactation consultant (IBCLC) that gets to the bottom of what is causing your issues and not just "put a bandaid on it". As an IBCLC, I am experienced in difficult and complicated cases and am up do date on the latest methods as well as the traditional breastfeeding practices. I also encourage all parents to tap into their instincts because you know your baby best.
In addition to being a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I am also a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and a Certified Specialist in Orofacial Myology (CSOM). Both help me serve breastfeeding dyads in different ways. As an RDN, I am also able to help with diet, supplement, and gut recommendations that many breastfeeding moms and babies need. As a CSOM, I have an extensive knowledge in suck training and relearning to use the tongue and facial muscles after a tongue tie release.
I am very passionate about helping families meet their breastfeeding goals. I have two kiddos that I breastfed, but not without struggles. I understand what it feels like when you thought it would be easy and it's not. The lack of help that I received from healthcare professionals during this time is what drives my passion for helping others. I also believe that the addition of and eventual transition to solid foods is an important and often taken for granted part of long term health. I look forward to working with you and helping you in this precious and important time in your life.
My passion for lactation and helping families began during my Dietetics undergrad program in 2008 where I became a CLC. After having two children with complicated breastfeeding journeys, I knew I wanted to continue my education and be the help I didn’t have as a new mother. I believe in listening to parents' intuition and getting to the root cause of feeding issues. As an IBCLC, I am able to support and encourage families to meet their feeding goals: from the prenatal period to navigating early feeding issues to assisting with back to work pump plans. I also have 8+ years of experience teaching adults how to create a positive meal environment for their children which includes introducing solids to infants and toddlers. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this special season in your life.
As a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) my journey into the realm of lactation and infant/parent wellness began several years ago amidst challenges with feeding and health issues encountered with my own two children. Having a background in microbial and evolutionary biology has allowed me to study lactation through a scientific lens, and my role as a parent has allowed me understand the emotional complexities that often accompany feeding issues.
My overarching aim is to provide unwavering support to families by attentively listening to their unique needs and guiding them towards fulfillment. I prioritize a collaborative approach in care, working alongside other healthcare team members. I firmly believe that this cooperative effort is instrumental in uncovering the underlying causes of the challenges families may face.
My primary goal is to empower families with accurate, transparent information, enabling them to make informed decisions about their healthcare journey. I am dedicated to assisting with lactation and feeding concerns spanning from the prenatal phase through toddlerhood stages. I sustain expertise in various areas including oral function, pre- and post-release oral restriction habilitation, bottle feeding, pumping, introduction of solids, and adept management of food allergies.
It is a privilege for me to support families during this profound and beautiful phase of their lives.
